Nursehound Tagging
The Nursehound Tagging Program is Sharklab’s first tagging study, investigating the post-release survivability and productivity of our sharks. The project will try to find out how far and deep our pups go and how long they can survive before being caught.
The first release of nursehounds was a major milestone and happened on Sunday, 12th of November, 2017 in Cirkewwa, celebrating the official start of the program. The Nursehound Tagging project is an extension to the “Oviparous species recovery and release program”.

More information on the species and the program can be found on the poster below. The program would not be possible without the continuous support of the Malta National Aquarium for which we are very grateful.
