Working with Schools
Sharklab-Malta has an excellent working relationship with many schools in Malta, educating children about the biology and conservation of elasmobranchs. Many members of our team have experience in educating children.

What work do we do with schools?
During the last school year, we have visited nearly 40 primary and middle schools – for the Tiny Teen Science Cafes where we talked to them about being Marine Biologists – teaching them how cool science is under the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) banner. We also visited a few Teen Science Cafes doing the same but for the older children at middle school – again helping them to understand what fun science is. We have seen approximately 4500 pupils – early in the year by virtual communication but more recently actually going into schools, which is much more fun for us.
We have also been going into Kindergarten schools teaching about sea creatures, sharks and the marine environment.
We take all our interns into schools to teach them how to interact with children of all ages – presenting marine world items will be part of any future jobs they get.

We are now in our fourth year of Tiny Teen Science Cafe and our sixth year of Teen Science Cafe.
